abruptly = change or action in a very sudden (often unpleasant way)
e.g. If you start eating a lot of fiber abruptly, you could get gas and bloating.

magnanimous = being kind and generous towards enemies

resilience = the ability to recover quickly from difficulties or setbacks.

raid (v./n.) = (initial) a sudden armed attack

riot (n,) = an occasion that a lot of people behave noisily and violently, like a protest

Schwa= 弱读 (usually 'a' or 'e', for 'or' or 'er' end words)

contraction= 缩略词/sth becomes smaller and shorter 收缩

compliant = If you say that someone is compliant, you mean they willingly do what they are asked to do. / obedient
e.g. I thought that you would be compliant.
This action is compliant with the law.
accelerate = speed up = expedite
e.g. Let's expedite the protocol.
allegation = A statement saying that someone has done something wrong
